Here at Marc Motors Nissan, we understand that fuel efficiency matters to both the environment, and to the finances of Maine drivers. That's why we were excited to hear about the car maker's plans to reduce vehicle weight, with the end goal of improving fuel efficiency, by 2017.

To date, the plan is to start using Advanced High Tensile Strength Steel (AHSS) in new Nissan models within the next four years. Of course, a lighter car can travel further on less fuel. So this innovation will ride on the other green technologies already in play.

Want to know how else Nissan is already saving you money?

Nissan is already using one type of high-tensile steel on its luxury cars; and they are the only auto maker to do so at this time. It's a 1.2 GPa ultra-high tensile strength component that allows for better efficiency, diversity in exterior designs, and fewer materials used in production.

This is all under the umbrella of the Nissan Green Program 2016 which is the company's plan to achieve a 35 percent improvement in fuel economy. Part of the goal is to use the AHSS material in 25 percent of Nissan parts in new models.

Of course, if you live in Sanford or Sommersworth, you can drive highly efficient Nissan cars right now. Just come out to the Marc Motors showroom at 1357 Main St, Sanford, ME 04073 and talk to our sales or Nissan service professionals today.
